One rep, One set, One day at a time.
Sometimes I think the hardest part about working out is literally just thinking about it. You sit there and think about driving to the gym or going to the track and how tired you're going to be and how much its going to hurt before you've even start your workout.
This is one of the things I learned early on way back in high school when I first started running track. If you think about working out over a long period of time it can seem absolutely overwhelming. It can take months and even years for some people to see progress or get that body they always wanted.
However, once you take a step back and realize all we really have to worry about and all we have control over are the seconds we are living right now. The MOMENT. The hardest part is taking the first step, that first rep in the gym. But quickly those reps turn into sets and days and months of training.
The most important part is COMMITTING to that first step, and then its about being CONSISTENT. I realized today when I woke up, I've been working out consistently since my freshman year in high school, 16 YEARS AGO. If you would have told me that back then, I would have been like, wow screw that, maybe I'll just go play some video games instead. But man am I glad now that I stuck with it.
If you just take it ONE REP, ONE SET, and ONE DAY at a time before you know it, weeks will turn into months and months will turn into years. You'll realize its really not as bad as you thought and you may even come to enjoy it.
Today I encourage you to take the first step. Start a program, grab a friend and get after it.
Good luck and enjoy the weekend.
